What is thin-walled Extruded Aluminum Rectangular tube?

Thin-walled aluminum rectangular tube is a type of aluminum extruded tube with a specific cross-sectional shape. It has a rectangular or rectangular cross-sectional shape. This type of tube is characterized by a thinner wall, which makes it lighter compared to traditional aluminum extrusion square tubes.

What is thin-walled?

Typically, thin-walled means that the thickness of the material is less than half of its width or diameter. For example, in piping, the common range of thin-wall thicknesses is 0.6mm to 2.0mm.

A simple definition is that when the wall thickness is less than 1mm it is called thin-walled. However, a more comprehensive definition needs to take into account factors such as process/wall thickness ratios and heat transfer coefficients.

Specifically, when the process L from the main flow path of the mold to the furthest point of the finished product divided by the wall thickness t of the finished product yields a process/wall thickness ratio L/t greater than 150, it is usually called a thin wall.

Advantages of thin-walled aluminum rectangular tubes:

1. Light weight:

Compared with the traditional rectangular tube. It will be lighter in weight because the reduction in wall thickness means that it will have less aluminum material. Reduced weight can make it easier to install and dismantle. It can be used as indoor ceiling material, because the weight reduction can reduce the cost of installation.

2. Inexpensive

Its price is cheaper than other aluminum rectangular tubes. This is because it requires less raw materials, which means that it can appear in the market at a lower price. It will be more competitive in the low-end market or poor neighborhoods.

3. Easily processed

Extruded aluminum tubes with reduced wall thickness can be more easily processed. This is because it is less difficult to press or CNC machine with a reduced wall thickness. Only need to release lower pressure can be drilled, cut and stamped processing.

In addition, costs can be reduced when performing the aluminum anodizing process. Since thin walls require less current than thick walls.

However we need to be careful:

1. limited strength:

Due to the relatively thin thickness of thin-walled materials, their strength will be limited. In the need to withstand greater pressure and external force occasions, you need to pay special attention to its strength is sufficient. 2.

2. welding difficulties:

For metal materials such as thin-walled stainless steel pipe, the welding process is relatively complex due to its special characteristics, requiring special welding techniques and equipment. This increases the cost of production and use to a certain extent.

Summary:

Although thin-walled aluminum rectangular tube has many advantages, its thin wall thickness makes it occupy a major position in the low-end market. But consumers need to buy it according to the actual situation. Because its strength is not able to withstand high pressure.
